Pilot Development: LNG Kool Husky Installation
The first-ever installation of PALS was successfully completed in October 2024 on the CoolCo LNG carrier, Kool Husky.
This project was made possible in collaboration with industry leaders including Ecochlor, Argo Navis, Friendship Systems, ERMA FIRST Group, and Yiu Lian Shipyard. Armada Technologies, took charge of the engineering design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of PALS.
The Kool Husky is undergoing sea trials to independently assess and verify system performance, ensuring thorough documentation of its capabilities.
HSVA, Hamburg: Proof of Concept “HYKAT” Testing
- Results demonstrated a significant drag reducing effect of PALS as a result of a stable, well-engaged, high-quality carpet of aerated water in the boundary layer
- The Armada team documented a drag reduction ‘sweet spot’ that could be targeted where two identified hydrodynamic phenomena were effectively balanced within each and every operating condition
